UNION SQUARE NEWS Union Square Online: http://www.union-square.us December 2004 FROM THE VICE-PRESIDENT Hello, Neighbors: As many of you already know, our President, Greg Grass, recently accepted a job outside of the area. Greg sold his home (in two weeks!!!), and very shortly will be relocating to a community closer to his new job. On behalf of the entire USA board, I want to take this opportunity to thank Greg for his tireless efforts to improve the quality of life in Union Square. Among other things, Greg has been instrumental in obtaining additional trees to line our streets and substantial grant funds to beautify the Square. We wish him every success in his future endeavors! Although we will miss Greg, his departure presents a perfect segue into talking about the upcoming elections for the USA board. Volunteers are needed to serve on the Nominating Committee, which will be elected at this monthís meeting. Volunteers also are needed to run for the board positions, which include President, Vice-President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, Director of Historic Preservation, and two At-Large Directors. We anticipate that several of the people currently filling these positions will not seek re-election. We hope all residents (both old and new) will consider volunteering. The election will take place at the annual meeting on January 5, 2005. Only valid members may vote. To qualify as a valid member, you must pay dues ($5 or $3 for senior citizens) and attend at least one regular meeting before the annual meeting. Happy Holidays! Tonya M. Osborne, Esq.
